I was born in 1942 and attended Aldine High School in Houston. I was a member of the high school choir and first discovered country music through church, where I still love singing to this day.
I graduated from Franklin Academy in Cleveland, Ohio, while attending the United States Army Security Agency. I subsequently spent several months in Vietnam and received an Army® Commendation Medal for my services there. Today, I perform with a fellow Vietnam veteran and friend of mine at adult daycare and recovery homes.
I served 30 years in law enforcement at the Harris County Sheriff's Department. Those several decades of wearing the star built character and respect in me. Even though I'm retired, I still remain a reserved sergeant.
I married my wife, Shirley, and sang at our wedding in Honolulu, Hawaii, in 1969. Today, we have four grown children and make our home in Cleveland, Texas. Shirley is a retired school teacher.
